"Our company has a true passion for the wonderful destinations that Latin-America offers, which remain relatively unknown. We also feel a strong responsibility to protect the sites designated as World Heritage not only in Latin-America, but everywhere, and have found a great partner in the World Heritage Alliance to help us do that," said Jason Porras, CEO of Radar Tours.
About Radar Tours:

Radar Tours takes you to the best sites in Latin-America, from the legendary Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza, to the top of mystical Machu Picchu, for an absolutely unforgettable experience. Radar Tours was founded in 2005 with the premise that many of the world’s most amazing sites in Latin-America remain difficult to access by the average traveler. Through the help of guided tours, people can get a chance to visit unique sites within the region, without the hassle of booking all services individually. By providing high quality guided tours, Radar Tours is committed to getting Latin-America on everyone's “radar”. Not only will people learn and gain a better understanding of different cultures, but they will also want to keep going back time and time again.

Radar Tours and the World Heritage Alliance for Sustainable Tourism:

Radar Tours is a Full Member of the World Heritage Alliance and is committed to promoting and preserving World Heritage sites through sustainable tourism by:
  • Implementing the World Heritage Alliance principles

within company policy by modifying the corporate mission and vision to encompass an understanding of World Heritage Sites and how our company can help preserve these sites through sustainable tourism practices, regional outreach programs and education. For this reason, by September 2007 Radar Tours will launch a revamped website which involves a strong World Heritage focus. Also, upper management is now required to visit at least five different World Heritage sites each year to experience these locations first-hand.

  • Participating in staff training programs

Each Radar Tours employee is now required to complete an online training program at least once every year.

  • Educating customers about World Heritage

as a primary objective since most customers visit a World Heritage site at least once during a Radar Tours trip. Each client is sent a welcome package which includes a wealth of information regarding World Heritage including a “12 Things To Know About Your World Heritage” brochure, the official World Heritage Center Wall Map, and the Friends of World Heritage “Responsible Travel Tips” guide.

  • Supporting community development around World Heritage sites

by donating a percentage of all Radar Tours sales to the Friends of World Heritage Fund, which in turn works with local communities to build and enhance sustainable tourism opportunities for travelers and to provide markets for locally produced sustainable goods and services.

  • Engaging employees to support the local community

through WHA volunteer programs that allow employees to work side-by-side with community-based initiatives.

  • Supporting the United Nations in its efforts

to encourage sustainable tourism and the protection of World Heritage sites through practicing sustainable tourism and protecting UNESCO World Heritage sites in collaboration with local ground operators and the tourism boards of each country visited.
