The Costa Rican Tourism Institute is responsible for implementing Costa Rica’s national tourism development policies under the National Development Plan, and pursuant to its commitment to sustainable tourism, developed and houses the Certification in Sustainable Tourism (CST) program, which was designed to differentiate tourism sector businesses based on the degree to which they comply with a sustainable model of natural, cultural and social resource management.
